Laura Evonne
Steinman, Community Artist
has worked with
people of all ages
facilitating art-making in schools, community centers, neighborhood
backyards, in religious institutions, senior centers, orphanages, and
hospitals. She believes that lives are nurtured and
transformed by creating art together. Laura received her BFA in
Sculpture from Rhode Island School of
Design
(RISD) and her Master of
Art in Art Education (MAAE) with a Concentration in Community Arts from
The
School
of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). She lived in Europe (Warsaw,
Poland) for 5 years teaching art after graduate school. Currently she is living
in "The Nest", a co-op in Somerville, MA sewing a bunch of "Colorful
Matters" using recycled remnants. Laura is the art teacher at The Gifford School in Weston, MA
and the Religious Educator &
Artist in Residence at Arlington Street Church (ASC), a
Unitarian Universalist Congergation in Boston. During evening and
weekends she teaches fabric collage and hand sewing classes along with
volunteering with her cat, aka cow
Krowka, cooks veggie food from here garden or CSA share from First Root Farm and totally
soaks up the
sunshine and dances in the rain of life!
