Between 1999-2002, I was the DRE at Third Unitarian Church
(TUC)
in the Austin Neighborhood on the West side of Chicago.
Below are some of the projects and services I facilitated during that
time.

This
is a Mural I facilitated
the TUC RE kids
painting in 2000.
Each week we would gather in this RE room say the words
we painted
together and have a short worship time.
"Life
is a gift for which we are grateful.
We gather in community to celebrate the
glories and mysteries of this great
gift"
(to
the right)
From the Urban Ministries conference in Chicago 2001, I along with
another D.R.E. facilitated "building a city" during the service with
the kids. Also during the conference We asked participants to trace
their hand and then all the Hands were displayed on the stage during
the final service.

This Intergenerational
service was put together collaboratively with me and Donald Neale, the
Music Director. I
showed slides of different artists influenced by the Jazz movement,
music was performed and each person has some paper and something to
draw with one how the music made them feel. The kids and young at
heart drew on a big piece of paper during the service. After the
service the
drawings were displayed in the coffee area.

At
this intergenerational
spring service which was put together by me and the intern minister Deb
Derylak, an abstract tree was formed in
the sanctuary blossoming with spring
pictures, and words.
If you would like detailed
information about any of these projects or services please e-mail me.
If you use any of these project ideas in your own church please note
where you got the ideas from. Thanks!
